Breakfast at Tiffany's
The manuscript of the legendary novel "Breakfast at Tiffany's" in 1958, full of author's notes Truman Capote, put up for sale in late April. Among the multiple editorial corrections in the text can be seen and is quite remarkable. For example, originally the main character and an icon of the charming adventurers author decided not to call Holly Golightly, and Connie Gustafson.
The first story is about a young New Yorker interested in Harper's Bazaar. The right to publish the novel in installments were bought for $ 2000, but then the magazine refused to publish the story because of its explicit content and a variety of obscene expressions. Then the "Breakfast at Tiffany's" bought Esquire, by which it revived on the screens in 1961.
Now the right of the manuscript is New Hampshire auction house, which expects to gain for it at least $ 250,000. The true owner preferred to remain anonymous. However, representatives of trading hinted that this is a very well-known collector of autographs Madison Avenue. Apparently, in the circles of collectors and connoisseurs is a very recognizable person. Those representatives have assured that the sale of the manuscript is in no way associated with running today in New York theater production of "Breakfast", which occupied Emilia Clarke.
Among other interesting auction items you can find souvenirs with signature of James Dean, Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Judy Garland and Lucille Ball. As well as 8-mm film with Marilyn Monroe, which in February 1954 paid a visit to American soldiers in Korea.
