My mother-in-law asks me to move in, and there's a cesspool, I refuse.

Bye. Kiev without electricityPeople learn to live in a new reality. Owners of various businesses buy generators, and local residents get out as they can. It's hard without light, and Olya understands that. The mother-in-law offers to move to live with her outside the city for a while. But the girl is strongly against such measures. Why she doesn’t want to be in her husband’s house, read more in the article.

With my mother-in-law, I have never had a warm relationship. She's not my man, and that's it! Some Galina Vasilievna is sloppy, tactless and careless. But at least not assiduous. When Dima and I got married, she stopped coming to me with her advice. I realized that now I am the hostess of the family.

My husband and I immediately settled in the capital. Dima has a good job, I also earn enough. I lived and didn’t, and then I got pregnant. Now our baby is 3 years old, and in the conditions of our new reality with young children is quite difficult.

First, it's corny scary. No one knows what tomorrow might be like. Secondly, it hurts to know that my son's childhood is spent in such conditions. But what do we do? We adapt and move on.

But now Kiev without electricity very often. And we have everything working on it: the stove in the kitchen, and heating, and hot water. If there is no light in the house, there is nothing automatically. At first, we did something. But I don’t know what will happen in winter when the temperature drops even lower.

Of course, I share my concerns with my husband. And he often communicates with his mother, and she is also aware of all our problems. Galina began to call me often and tell me that if there is a complete blackout in Kiev, then we should move with the child to them outside the city.

But the problem is that their house, to put it mildly, is not very suitable for living with a child. Yeah, they bought a generator because they save money for a rainy day. The presence of electricity is an undoubted plus. But this is where all the benefits of living with relatives end.

You see, my mother-in-law lives in conditions far from what I imagine a normal life to be. Her rural house has no renovation, no bathroom, no toilet. It’s 2022 and she’s still out on the street.

When I go there for some holidays in the summer, I want to leave. I can't go to the cesspool! I don’t know how I’m going to take my baby there. But Galina Vasilyevna only laughs in response. He says he'll wear me a bucket if I'm so spoiled.

It hurts me to be considered special because I just want to live with comfort. And I am angry with my mother-in-law and mother-in-law for not bothering to make their home habitable over the years.

I like the idea of living outside the city. Besides, we have a car to ride back and forth if we need to. My husband says you can run the internet without any problems. I could work in peace. Being closer to nature is not bad either.

But all this will remain a dream until Galina Vasilyevna has a normal toilet and bathroom. It took so many years to save money! At least they bought a generator. That's good. But it didn't make me feel any better. Now my mother-in-law resents me, saying that I am an ungrateful daughter-in-law. But where am I wrong?

Life Wisdom: What does this story teach us? Olya has every right not to agree to the offer of her mother-in-law. However, in this situation, if Kiev is left without electricity for a long time, you will have to choose from two evils less. Being warm, with light and warm water is much better than without these benefits. And with a toilet in the village, you can always think of something. Agreed?

I wonder what you would do in the place of the main character of the story? Share your ideas in the comments!
