Where is Anatoly Bely and what are his plans?
The interview with White Anatoly, one of my favorite actors, evoked a lot of emotions and awareness. Recently, we wrote about the fact that the artist resigned from his beloved MHT, where he worked for many years, and also that White left the country.
The other day it became known where Anatoly Bely is and what his plans are. Today's edition. "Site" He offers to get acquainted with his interview from his new country of residence, which the artist gave a couple of days ago to Novaya Gazeta. He's not afraid anymore!
A lot of criticism fell on the actor after he left Russia. The artist himself does not comment on this, nor does he say anything bad about those with whom he communicated and worked.
“A country is not power, it is people, it is cities where people live, it is nature. And the people are wonderful. And I'm not going to turn into a dog that runs around the corner and barks. I take great care not to start saying that some people are better, others are worse, higher, lower.
Instagram / @teatral_online However, the artist can no longer live as before. The war in Ukraine is to blame. The last straw for him was the shelling of Vinnitsa. Anatoly Bely comes from Vinnytsia region, from the town of Bratslav, where he was born and spent the happy years of his childhood. Also, the artist’s childhood is associated with another Ukrainian city – Lviv, where his grandmother lived on his father’s side.
On July 14, in his social networks, the artist explained the reason for his departure from the country where he lived for so many years and played in wonderful films and plays. Anatoly Bely and his family live in Israel because he has Jewish roots.
Instagram / @journal.baby.ru "I left from fear." This is the kind of Soviet sticky fear that people are living in again. The nuts are getting tighter and more unfair. Society is rapidly approaching total dictatorship. That's where I left off.
To live the rest of my measured life the way I want. I want my children to be people of peace, not preserved in the same territory with the constant feeling of that very fear.”
He said, “Fear is a key word for me.” I don't want to live in fear. And I do not want my children to live in it! – said the artist in his interview to “Novaya Gazeta”.
In what city and even in what country will be next, Anatoly Bely does not know, life will tell. “At least here abroad I will not fear for my life, for my freedom.”
“I will not be afraid that tomorrow I will be visited and sent to prison simply for telling the truth. I will not be afraid of being told what to do and what not to do. I’m going to live where I can at least speak in peace!
He also adds that in his beloved Moscow Art Theatre, he felt freedom, but this is not enough for him, since life is not limited to only one theater.
“Recognize that I don’t judge anyone, I don’t judge anyone, I just choose when I have a choice. And I can't choose to live in the cocoon of theatre by shutting myself out of the rest of the world and saying I do art, so don't touch me.
Instagram / @people.theatre I can not, do not want and will not - even with my great love for the Moscow art theater. For me it is a huge loss and a huge pain. But I can't live like this! says White.
By the way, the artist mentions his love for the Chekhov Theater and its artistic director, Konstantin Khabensky, more than once.
From the words of the artist: Kostya has always been a very decent person, I know him well from this side. We all know how he does charity in a powerful, powerful way.
When we were saying goodbye to him, he said these words to me – this is his, if I may say so, life credo: “Let’s make it so that when we meet in five, ten, fifteen years, we will not be ashamed to look each other in the eye.” That's the best thing a man could say. He got it.
Konstantin Khabensky himself told the actor that the doors of the Moscow Art Theatre will always be open for White. By the way, Khabensky is still replacing the artist in some productions.
Anatoly Bely in advance, since the first days of the war in Ukraine, warned Khabensky that he was going to leave the country. He finished the theatrical season, helped the artistic director find a replacement and only then left, so as not to let anyone down or set up. Although he wanted to leave much earlier.
Now the artist is experiencing his move and what is happening in Ukraine. “I am hurt by what is happening now. And I know that in Moscow, in Russia, a huge number of beautiful people. Talented, beautiful, kind, intelligent, educated, just they were not enough, they could not do anything.
It hurts me for these wonderful people, my friends and acquaintances who have no choice, so they stayed there. And I do not know what will happen to them next, how they will continue to live! said Anatoly Bely.
I also propose to find out what made Anatoly Bely resign from the Moscow Art Theater. An honest and conscientious actor!
White's interview reveals the facets of this man's soul and his life position. Personally, I really like what he says. A strong-willed man and a wonderful artist. Let everything in his new place be the best.
