How to cook cherry jam that awakens the love of life

My relationship with cherries never went further. No, I'm lying, I made a cake with her once. However, I did not dare to make big experiments. Noble sourness does not attract me at all. Or rather, she wasn't until a friend bought me a homemade cherry jam. In love! And then I immediately decided to find out, How to cook cherry jam.

In this article, I will share a simple recipe for cherry jam. And I will also tell you what to add to the twists to make the taste of the dish more interesting. It'll be good!

To prepare cherry jam, you will need only 3 main ingredients. If you're going to make a treat for the first time, don't worry. I guarantee you'll succeed. The main thing is to follow all the instructions clearly.

By the way, I saw this recipe in the blog of the famous Ukrainian chef Yevgeny Klopotenko. I advise you to look at his page if you also like to cook simple and unusual dishes.

Ingredients
  • 1kg seedless cherries
  • 600g sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Preparation
  1. First of all, let's sterilize the cans. Wash them well under running water and heat the oven to 180 degrees. Then send the cans to the oven. While they're sterilized, we'll make jam. You can also sterilize banks in any other way.

  2. Seedless cherries put in a pot with a thick bottom. Add sugar to it and mix it. Leave the cherries for 15 minutes to let the juice go.
  3. Then add cinnamon sticks to the pan and send the cherries to the stove. Bring the cherries to a boil over medium heat. Then reduce the fire to a minimum and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring the future jam from time to time.

  4. Put the jam on sterilized jars and cover it. When the banks cool down, send them to a cool place. Done!

As you can see, cherry jam is prepared very quickly and simply. Problems can arise only with sterilization of cans, if you are faced with this for the first time. This can be done not only in the oven, but also in the steam bath. This method is more familiar to our hosts. To do this, it is enough to install cans over the steam for 10-15 minutes.

Banks are also sterilized in the microwave. For this method, you need to pour water into clean cans, filling about one third of the volume. And then send the cans to the microwave for 3-6 minutes. Time depends on the size of the cans. When you sterilize the banks, make sure they don't touch each other.

If you do not like jam with whole fruits, you can safely make cherry jam. On our website there is a successful recipe, which was shared by my colleague Veronica Zhmurko. Sharing the material at the link.

By the way, there is no cinnamon in this recipe, but I advise you to put it still. The spice will enrich the taste of cherry jam. The main thing is to pull out the sticks before the cherry grinding stage. Although, if you want, you can use ground cinnamon. Don't be afraid to experiment!

In general, various spices can be added to jam. For example, badyan, ginger, cinnamon and even hot pepper. I'm sure you'll discover your familiar tastes in a whole new way. What do you say?
