The future actress was born on May 21, 1937 in a very talented family. Mother Verico Anjaparidze was a famous theater actress. And father Michael Chiaureli was known as a gifted director, actor, artist, sculptor and musician. Sofiko also had brothers Otar and Ramaz.

Given the profession and interests of parents, it is not surprising that their home was a real haven for the most prominent guests. There were Maya Plisetskaya, Faina Ranevskaya, Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, and many other talented people.



In this environment, Sofiko grew up, it formed her worldview, revealed the inner beauty of the creative world, which most see only from the outside.

Already in early childhood, Sofiko knew how to make films, she was behind the scenes of the theater. She wanted to be an actress, just like her mother. In school years, this desire only strengthened. After school, the girl began to study at the All-Union Film Institute in Moscow.

And after graduation (with honors) in 1960, Sofiko refused the capital offers to return to his native Georgia. Interestingly, among her classmates were such magnitudes as Leonid Kuravlev and Svetlana Druzhinina.



To debut in the cinema Sofiko managed in 1956 in the film Rezo Chkheidze “Our yard”. In a touching melodramatic comedy, the young actress played a prominent role. And the movie itself was very liked by the audience. Not surprisingly, after a successful debut, other interesting works followed.
