A Turkish neighbor is studying at a medical university, gave me pomegranate tea, noticing that I have a runny nose, I often cook such a warming drink in winter.

Pomegranate tea has become widespread in Turkey. In different regions of the country, it is prepared with the addition of juice, fruit pulp, grains, as well as flowers and other parts of the pomegranate tree. There were no flowers at hand for obvious reasons. But we tried to make a warming anti-cold drink from pomegranate crusts. Let's show you what happened.

Pomegranate tea ingredients
  • 2 grenades
  • orange peel
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • pinch
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)

Preparation
  1. If you have a peeled grenade, great. If not, we will tell you how to clean it.
  2. Wash the grenade thoroughly under running water. Wipe dry. Then cut off its top with a sharp knife, opening the core and radial partitions.
  3. Put a knife incisions along all the partitions. Usually there are five to seven of them in the grenade.

  4. Put the knife in the center of the grenade and, working with it as a lever, divide the grenade into slices along the lines of cuts.

  5. Remove the films where they are left, and, tapping a spoon on the skin of each slice, beat the grains into a bowl. Don't throw away the crusts, we'll need them.
  6. Fill the blender bowl with pomegranate grains. Smack it with a submersible blender for 10-15 seconds and run it through the sieve. It should be up to a glass of dark ruby juice.

  7. Boil in a liter of water, add pomegranate crusts and boil on a small heat under the lid for 10 minutes. Then strain.

  8. Pour the broth again into the sautéin, add orange peel, fresh pomegranate juice, cinnamon stick and nutmeg. With the latter, it is desirable not to overdo it so that it does not interrupt the aroma of pomegranate in tea.

  9. Bring the mixture to a boil under the lid. Then take it off the fire and let it brew for 5-10 minutes.
  10. Strain the tea into mugs, add a slice of lemon, honey and serve it to the table.

  11. For some, the taste may seem too intense. In this case, you should dilute tea with boiling water in a proportion of one to one.

  12. Enjoy your tea!

The taste of tea is unusual. It's more tart than sour, like pomegranate juice. My Turkish friends claim that pomegranate tea relieves stress, strengthens immunity and increases the body’s resistance to colds. A vitamin-rich drink is also recommended for lack of iron in the body.
