How to cook sauerkraut Ingredients
- 1 medium-sized cabbage head
- 2 medium-sized carrots
- 2 l of water
- 3 tbsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
Preparation
- Cut the cabbage in pieces you like.
- Rub a carrot on a large grater.
- Now stir everything, rub it with your hands and put it tightly in a jar. Now put the jar with rammed cabbage in a deep bowl.
- Cooled brine (boiled with salt water) pour into a jar to overflow over the edge. Let me stand for two days, occasionally piercing the cabbage to the bottom with a knife to let out air. If the air is not released, there will be a bitter taste, and we do not need it.
- On the third day, carefully drain the brine. To do this, you can close the jar with a capron cover, make a hole in the lid and drain the liquid into a separate container.
