10 powerful insights from Eckhart Tolle

The biggest goal you can set is peace with your life, regardless of the circumstances.

1. Don't look for happiness. If you search for it, you will not find, because seeking is the antithesis of happiness. Happiness is always elusive, but freedom from unhappiness is attainable now, rather accepting what is than writing stories about it.

2. The initial cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thought about it. Be aware of the thoughts that you think. Separate them from a situation which is always neutral, which always is who she is. Here, a situation or a fact, but those are my thoughts about it. Instead of making up stories, stay with the facts.

For example, "I am broke" is the story. It limits you and prevents effective action. "My Bank account is 50 cents" — it's a fact. Statement of facts always gives you strength.

3. See if you can catch, that is to notice the voice in your head, perhaps at this very moment he's complaining about something, and recognize what it is – the voice of the ego, no more than due to the model of the mind, thought. Whenever you notice that voice, you realize that you – not he, but one who appreciates it.

In fact you are the consciousness that is aware of the voice. The awareness in the background. In the foreground is the voice, the thinker. Thus, you become free from ego, free from unnoticed mind.

4. Wherever you look, you will find many indirect proof of the reality of time: a rotting Apple, your face in the bathroom mirror compared with your face in photos taken 30 years ago, and yet you never find direct evidence, you never experience time itself. The only thing you ever experience is the present moment, or rather what happens in it.

5. Why is there anxiety, stress, or negativity? Because you turned away from the present moment. And why did you do it? You think that something else is more important. You forgot your main goal. One small error, one misperception has created a world of suffering.

6. People believe that their happiness depends on what happens, that is. They don't realize that what happens is the most unstable thing in the universe. It is constantly changing. They see the moment or, as marred by something that happens but should not happen, either, as insufficient, due to the fact that something happens, but they should be.

So they miss the deeper perfection that is inherent to life itself, a perfection that is always already here, outside what is happening or not happening, beyond form.

Take the moment and find the perfection that is deeper than any form and untouched by time.

7. The more of the past apply to your relationship, the more present you need to be, otherwise, you will be forced to relive your past again and again.

8. Equating the physical sense-receptive body, whose fate to grow old, wither and die, but sooner or later, always leads to suffering. To refrain from identification with the body does not mean to neglect, despise or don't take care of it. If it is strong, beautiful, energetic, you can enjoy and appreciate these properties until they are. You can also improve the state of the body proper diet and exercise.

If you do not equate the body to the fact who you are, when beauty fades, the energy decreases or the body becomes incapacitated, it is, in any way, doesn't offend your sense of dignity or identity. In fact, at that time, as the body begins to weaken, Uniformance dimension, the light of consciousness, can pass far more easily through the fading form.

9. You will not get better, trying to be better, but by finding the goodness that is already within you and allowing it to occur. But it can arise only if something significant changes in your state of consciousness.

10. If peace is really what you want, then you will choose peace.published
