Unfortunately, raw cabbage contains goiter substances that interfere with the absorption of iodine from food. Therefore, if you do not want to create conditions for the development of hypothyroidism (insufficient amount of thyroid hormones), then in areas deficient in iodine (and this is 80-90% of regions of Russia and the countries of the former USSR), raw cabbage in the diet should be strictly limited. Properly cooked cabbage is very useful for diseases of the liver, gastrointestinal tract, also acts as a good assistant for those who seek to lose weight.
Today we will share a very simple and delicious recipe for stewed cabbage.
Cabbage cut squares 1x1 cm. Put in a deep container and pour boiling water, so that the water covers the cabbage. Hold for 5 minutes. Water drain, and cabbage put on a hot pan without oil. Evaporate the remains of water with constant stirring (from 10 to 15 minutes). Do not allow the slightest burning of cabbage. If the water has evaporated, and the cabbage is not yet soft enough, add 2-3 spoons of boiling water and continue to dry the cabbage when stirring. As soon as there is no water in the pan, turn off the stove. Slightly salt the cabbage (if desired), fill with butter or olive oil (to taste). If desired, a cut egg, hard-boiled, can be added to the cabbage. The dish is ready, you can put it on plates.
Cabbage, stewed in this way, acquires the flavor of corn, very tasty and useful. It can be a great low-calorie side dish or, when you add an egg, a separate dish.
Cook with love!
P.S. And remember, just changing our consumption – together we change the world!
