Wooden devices
What can happen if you cross an architect, a furniture factory, and a love of bikes? And the result is exquisite, eco-conscious road bike "Thonet".
Architect and designer from London, Andy Martin (Andy Martin) decided to create a concept bike made of bent wood, with complex steam bending process. This method was first used by German furniture company back in 1859 when making classic chairs for dining. Chairs by German furniture maker Michael Tonya (Michael Thonet) can still be seen in cafes, for more than 150 years later.
The seat and the curves of the frame made of wood – beech, all the cracks and contours are set up on CNC machines (CNC). Martin has developed a number of connectors and spring rods to strengthen the structure. Traditionally, fixed wheel, carbon fiber HED H3S (carbon fibre HED H3S). The bike comes with no brakes and has several interchangeable gear ratios. Seat of beech wood supported on spring supports of the rod.
The bike will be available in limited quantities, at a price of $69608. Judging by the fact that the market price of some new cars of middle and low class are sometimes less than the cost of this Cycling concept, the constraints are in the direction of purchase.
And now a great wooden design turn to small, but not transport.
Created unique Bluetooth 3.0 keyboard made of wood:
The French company "Oree" have developed a new attractive accessory designed specifically for all popular smartphones and tablets, simultaneously compatible with your PC. The model is the keyboard made from maple wood and features a contemporary minimalist design. Environmentally friendly keyboard "Oree Wooden Keyboard" command from one whole piece of wood in order to preserve the natural appearance of hand polished, body and keys are the common pattern tree.
Wireless keyboard works with Bluetooth 3.0 from Broadcom (BCM20730) which provides several months of continuous operation from a single pair of AAA batteries. Entrepreneur Julien Salanave involved in creating the gadget, said: "We identified a growing aspiration for lasting personalized objects that may have a soul, combining the human with the natural material on earth."
