Bluetooth speaker powered by candle...
Wide application of portable Bluetooth speakers to listen to music with tablets and smartphones has made listening to music easy and enjoyable, no matter where you were, but still for them the need for a power cable or multiple batteries.
Instead of looking where to connect the cable or where to buy the batteries, one talented designer had to stock up on a few candles.
Speaker Pelty Bluetooth is absolutely not similar to other products, not only for its principle of operation, and appearance – it is made by hand from Italian glass and ceramics.
To power the speakers enough heat to flame (of a candle, to be exact), which fits the design of the product and converted into usable electricity via a thermoelectric generator device.
The idea of the column, fed by the flame of a candle, came to the Italian inventor, Gianluca Gamba (Gianluca Gamba), when he realized that his usual Bluetooth player was good enough to provide musical accompaniment for fine dining. It Bluetooth speaker was made of plastic, it finished charging, and worst of all – there was no possibility to charge the device. Qualified engineer remembered the thermoelectric phenomenon that converts heat into electricity by creating a current between two dissimilar metals, and after 18 months of work came to light Pelty Bluetooth.
The column got its name in honor of the discoverer of thermoelectric effect (Peltier effect) and the mode of production of electricity (cooling Peltier element).
According to the team Pelty Bluetooth, cooling the Peltier element itself is not very effective, but integration with a design that can maximize the desired temperature difference to produce a sufficient capacity and to protect the thermal camera in the glass, allows to produce enough energy to power the speakers with the volume of similar devices operating on batteries or outlet.
"Ceramic, in particular is used as a heat-resistant material, and because of its excellent acoustic and thermal insulation properties. Still it is a beautiful and natural material that matches the concept of Pelty Bluetooth".
One candle can generate few hours of electricity for the operation of the device (depending on the size of the candle) and although the company produced a special candle of the exact size, almost any candle is suitable for speakers.
Pelty Bluetooth can play sound on volume up to 95 dB (measured in 50 cm) with a 3" wideband speaker, which is fully comparable to traditional devices, and, according to the developer, he made for the "music lovers".
The column is currently in the prototype stage, the designer Gamba and its partners organized a company and turned to one of the crowdfunding platforms to raise funds.
Gathered finances will continue to improve the product, research and development, optimization of components and product promotion.
And as always in such campaigns, the collection is through product sales: the most inexpensive speakers for $ 199 was sold out in the first few days. For $ 265 you can buy Bluetooth speaker with a set of scented candles and additional reference material.
P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
