The castle is located on Bannerman island on the Hudson river, forty miles from new York city. The island is named in honor of Scottish immigrant, who bought the island in 1900 and built a beautiful huge castle. Bannerman was an arms business, and the castle served as a warehouse for ammunition. After the owner's death, the castle suffered a terrible fate. In 1918 the roof of the building was struck by lightning and 200 tons of ammunition exploded, bringing down part of the lock structure. Since then began a steady destruction of this majestic building. Bannerman castle has survived several fires, structural collapse, in 1950, it even managed to crash a cargo ship.         Pidhirtsi castle, Pidhirtsi, Ukraine
The castle was built in the seventeenth century by renowned architect Andre del Aqua and Guillaume de Beauplan for Hetman Stanislaw Koniecpolski. The castle has a square shape with sides of about one hundred meters, it was built of stone and brick. In the castle were often parades, balls, receptions.
