Environmental Water Treatment Complex in Oregon

The Columbia Boulevard Wastewater Treatment Plant was built in 1950 to treat wastewater and stormwater from Portland, Oregon, serving more than 600,000 residents. Recently, it has acquired a new office, designed by the architectural bureau Skylab Architecture.

The single-storey building has a polygonal shape, which is formed by seven inclined elements on the roof. Each of them is equipped with a rainwater collection system and is planted with green plants. In addition, the developers of the project involved a number of technologies that increase its energy efficiency, including solar panels, heat pumps and panoramic glazing.
