Chile will get energy independence





The first in the Chilean Atacama desert station for converting solar energy into heat and electricity will make the country's first energy independent country in Latin America.

The construction of the station will deal with Spanish company "Abengoa", which specializiruetsya on electricity from renewable sources.

The equipment will be installed on the plateau of Dominador. It will produce 110 megawatt-hours per year. Under the placement of solar panels spread over 700 hectares. The Atacama desert – a place where almost never rains and rarely the sky tighten the clouds. This is the point on the map of the world where the strongest solar radiation.

Note that solar power is an alternative to the heat, and it will significantly improve the environment in the region. After working the same thermal power station from the combustion of petroleum products into the atmosphere would be released 643 000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
