What filter to choose for the well

Properly selected and installed filter will largely depend on the performance of the well, the quality of water consumed and the durability of the well pump.

What parts does the filter consist of:
  • perforated base (pipe with cracks or perforated holes)

  • filterer
  • slurry
Basically, filters are put by owners of sand wells to purify water from impurities of sand. An artesian well usually does not need filters, but there are exceptions.

Types of filters

The filters are divided into:
1. Reticulated
  • With a filter element in the form of a grid. It is made of stainless steel, plastic or galvanized steel. Dignities: resistant to mechanical damage, have a simple design. Shortcoming: short service life.

    • With a filter element in the form of a wire - more durable than a mesh, but somewhat more expensive.

2. Frame-rod The filter design is made of vertical steel rods. The size of the captured particles is determined based on the distance between the rods. It can be used in artesian wells with a large amount of hydrogen sulfide and high hardness water. In this case, the filter must also contain an ion exchange resin.

3. Combined Most often used in small sand wells. The frame is the same as that of the “framework-rod filter”, only on top there is also a grid, like that of the mesh filter.

So which filter do you prefer?

When buying, give preference to a stainless steel filter. Galvanized steel is not very useful for the human body, besides, a frequent neighbor of such a filter is corrosion, and plastic will serve less. Choose the size of the filter cell based on the rock in your area in which the well is located.
