TV interferes with language development in young children
American researchers say that TV in the background reduces the communication between parents and kids, preventing, thereby, the development of speech of the child.
Long been known that the development of language skills depends on listening to the speech of their parents. Scientists watched parents and toddlers aged 12, 24 and 36 months.
Half of the observation time the blue screen was on. The researchers noted that during the TV works, the number of new words spoken by the parents was much smaller than when you turn off the appliance. Considering how language development of children depends on the speech of parents, scientists believe that prolonged use of a TV in the background has a negative impact on a child's development.
