Psychologists advise to talk to strangers

Researchers at the University of Chicago figured out how to communicate with strangers makes people happier.

The team led by Nicholas Epley and Juliana Schroeder chose the 100 passengers on the train and divided them into three groups. One of the people asked to actively communicate, another to be silent, and the third to act as usual.

After the trip, participants were asked to rate the fun of the journey. It turned out, those people who talked during the trip, had a more pleasant experience. Participants spend time in silence, reported less pleasant and unproductive pastime.

The researchers believe: "Human beings are social animals. Those who do not understand the consequences of social interaction, are unable, in some cases, to take advantage of this for their own well-being."
