In Norway, tax breaks for Tesla exceeded the cost of the machine

Norway is truly a Paradise for electric cars, despite the harsh climate. And the reason is government subsidies that are given to buyers of cars on batteries, and other initiative. Especially this country loves company Tesla.

American manufacturer Tesla Motors Inc. began European sales of their only electric Model S sedan with Norway. Actually this decision is quite logical. Luxury car, the operation of which is harder than a normal gasoline car, the cost of which can be compared with the price of a new Porsche – with a simple to promote product. But in Norway, this task is facilitated by the local government.

According to International Business Times, tax breaks, provided at the purchase of electric vehicles, exceeded the cost of the electric vehicle. In particular discount fees, which the government imposes the purchase of a car in installments, in the amount of 135 thousand dollars exceeds the cost of a Tesla Model S in the amount of 112 thousand dollars. In other words, if Model S is equipped with a conventional gasoline engine, as comparable to the class and equipment of a luxury car in Norway, it could be by not less than 250 thousand.

For example, the Porsche Panamera S is in Norway 290 thousand dollars, and Audi S6 – 240 thousand dollars. No wonder CEO Elon Musk decided to start the conquest of Europe with Norway, making the movement of vehicles in this country a priority.

Owners of electric vehicles will not only receive significant benefits from the government, but also legally use the lanes for public transport, free transportation on ferries and discounts on annual vehicle tax. All these advantages will end in 2017. By this time the government should decide to renew them or not.

A researcher from the Norwegian Institute of transport Economics Centre for transport research Erik Figenbaum asks the question, would all these benefits so high if the country did not sell luxury electric cars. "At a time when these initiatives were presented (in 2001), it was about more than simple electric cars," he said Feigenbaum. At that time, Norway was only the Nissan Leaf, Mitsubishi i-MiEV compact cars of its own production Think and Buddy. Tesla brought its own sedan to market in August of last year.

P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
