Engineers have created a robot with Wi-Fi for seeing through walls
University of California researchers have developed robots that can see through walls.
New technology allows the droids to pass between the Wi-Fi signal and, by measuring changes in its intensity, to see what is behind the obstacle. This technology can be used to find people trapped in buildings or to monitor the person in the room.
During the test experiments, the self-propelled device has shown satisfactory accuracy (error 5 cm) in the detection of a person in the house.
The developers claim that "our approach allows us to see a completely unknown area (with details) through thick walls by using only Wi-Fi signals".
In addition to direct detection of people in the premises and control, these machines will be useful in archaeological excavations, geocaching, displaying unknown object.
