Transfer to electric cars interfere with psychological reasons

American scientists came to the conclusion that to become a potential owner of an electric car, drivers are hampered by psychological reasons. They are simply not ready to switch to a car with a much smaller range.

If the owners of gasoline cars are able to travel on one tank of fuel up to a thousand kilometers, the possibilities of eco-transport are significantly limited. At the same time, they are not ready to take into account that the capabilities of electric vehicles with a margin exceed their needs. A power reserve of 160 km is enough for any owner of an electric car.

The International Institute for the Study of Operational Management (INFORMS) surveyed nearly 36,000 drivers as part of a study aimed at optimizing the infrastructure for electric vehicles. After studying the data, scientists came to the conclusion that the average length of the daily route does not exceed 60 km. Thus, even the 130 km that a Nissan Leaf electric car can drive on a single charge will be more than enough for daily travel.

The researchers also note that a certain anxiety of potential owners of electric cars is caused by country trips, for which one charge of the accumulator is not enough. But here experts also recommend taking into account the fact that not many drivers make such trips.

In relation to the potential owner of the electric car makes a hypothetical possibility of country trips, for which one battery charge is definitely not enough. However, according to their estimates, a fairly small number of drivers regularly make such trips.
