In the EU will ban powerful vacuum cleaners
From September 1, energy efficiency labeling is introduced for vacuum cleaners, and the powerful and most popular models that have not passed certification will simply disappear from sale. Legislation specifies that manufacturers will not be able to manufacture or import vacuum cleaners with a capacity of more than 1,600 watts. The second planned series of laws will further limit vacuum cleaners to 900 watts by 2017.
Vacuum cleaners consume an average of 1800 watts, there are models of 2200 watts. Opponents of the new rule believe that this environmental initiative is initially meaningless: consumers with less powerful vacuum cleaners will simply have to spend more time cleaning, and the desired energy savings will not occur in reality. There will be no environmental impact.
However, the members of the European Commission are convinced that they are right. European Commission energy spokeswoman Marlene Holzner wrote in a blog post: As a result, new eco-design and labelling legislation will result in consumers getting a better vacuum cleaner. In the past, no vacuum cleaner regulations existed and companies could sell poorly-performing products.”
