Audi unveils hybrid Q7 in Geneva

About the upcoming debut at the Geneva motor show hybrid modification of the flagship crossover Audi Q7 new generation, journalists have been buzzing all ears since January, when the premiere of the traditional version of the SUV took place at the Detroit Motor Show. Meanwhile, this debutant was the only one of the seven, whose participation in the Geneva show, representatives of Audi have not officially confirmed. As it turned out, until the premiere.

The remaining six new products concern safely declassified on the Internet in the last days before the exhibition. However, the debut of the hybrid Q7 e-tron did take place where reporters expected.

Audi Q7 e-tron arrived in Geneva under its full serial name and with the official “distribution” in the environmental line of the brand “e-tron”. It is becoming more saturated every year, and by 2018, according to the manufacturer’s assurances, all models under the Audi brand will be in it, except for the Z4 roadster. About the power plant Q7 e-tron also began to talk already at the Detroit show, only a few in a different context – there it was compared with the hybrid base of the previously shown crossover Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid. The installations of these two models are really the same in design, but differ in the degree of forcing. The Cayenne base was more powerful - 416 hp, but for the Q7 in Audi probably for purely marketing reasons left the option of 374 hp.

At the same time, in both cases, the installation is diesel-electric, which is considered as an innovation for German brands - until now only Volvo worked closely with diesels as part of hybrids.

The rechargeable type installation is based on a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder turbodiesel manufactured by Volkswagen, which is helped by an electric motor. All this works in the quattro all-wheel drive system. Curiously, Audi found a way to usefully cool the elements of the base and transmission that warm up in the work, putting a heat pump under the hood, which drives the hot air of the engine compartment into the cabin for heating passengers.

The fuel consumption of the new Audi Q7 e-tron in the mixed cycle, according to the indications of the fuel level sensor, is impressive - only 1.7 liters of diesel per hundred. At the same time, the hybrid SUV is strikingly fast: despite its dimensions, it exchanges the first hundred in exactly 6 seconds. The range of the Q7 e-tron with a full tank is 1,410 km, and on one electric motor, the flagship can travel 56 km.

The timing of the start of sales of the hybrid Q7 in Europe has not yet been announced, but it was previously reported that it may appear in showrooms simultaneously with traditional versions with internal combustion engines. published
