Facebook has developed OpenCellular device for wireless access to the Internet and to improve the quality of communication in remote corners of the Earth.

The company reported that OpenCellular platform is designed to improve the quality of communication, as it can support many types of communication from the network in the box to the access point with support from 2G to LTE networks

. The company also reported that OpenCellular withstand harsh climatic conditions in the platform used batteries, solar panels and power.

The work platform can start this summer.



In the Facebook note that at the end of 2015 in the world of more than 4 billion people still have no access to the internet and 10% of the population live outside of cellular range.

"Cellular infrastructure development needed to support the base compound as broadband still is not available or too expensive in many parts of the world. Facebook hopes to solve this problem. We develop the possibility of installing and operating the network infrastructure with little cash investment ", - added in the company.
