25% of cars in Dubai will be unmanned by 2030

Ruler of Dubai, the Prime Minister and Vice President of UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid announced that by 2030 the proportion of unmanned vehicles in Dubai will be at least 25 percent.

This statement was made on the opening day of the second Transport Congress and Exhibition MENA - event organized by the Office of roads and transport. Shortly before that, the emirate launched the first test drives of the local self-governing 10 buses manufactured by Easy Mile / Omnix Company.




"Dubai is the leader among the big cities to the introduction of an autonomous vehicle that uses artificial intelligence in the service of man - said Sheikh Mohammed. - The project will create a unique global transport model for future cities and transform Dubai into the biggest laboratory in the world of technology, research and development. Today, we have defined a clear strategy and the specific objective of "intelligent" transport, which will be the basis for achieving a sustainable economy in the UAE. »

The transition to unmanned machines would reduce transport costs, and secure the traffic on the roads, while reducing the number of accidents involving all modes of transport, as well as relieve the over-saturated metropolis traffic management believes the emirate.
