Solution

Step 1. Take all 6 balls from 8

Step 2: Put on the 3 balls on the two scales (thus using the 1st attempt):

A) if the bowls were made even, the heavier the ball to look for among the two remaining

B) if a bowl outweighed, the right ball is among these three

Step 3. Use the 2nd and last attempt.

Under option

A) it's simple: you need to weigh the two remaining world, to identify more severe. Under option

B) 2 weigh any ball from the remaining 3 or scales and then immediately show a heavier or bowl will be equal, and hence, the 3rd, not weighted ball is the hardest.

The sports tournament participant stated 5.623. How much competition to determine the winner?

Most popular answers

A) one match - that it will determine the champion in the final

B) 5.622 match if all of the participants should be only one winner, then you just need to subtract 5.623 1.

An alternative solution

It is important not to "correct answer" (if you notice the condition of the problem foggy, so that decisions can be more than one), and a logical approach. So at first it would be good to clarify that it is for the participants - team or individual athletes? Then, depending on the answer, ask the next logical question, and so on. So you show your ability to think, reason, make decisions

Here three boxes: one apples, bananas in the other, and the third - a mixture of both. All boxes are labeled incorrectly. You can get one fruit from one box without looking inside. How many times have at least need to get the fruit to determine the contents of the baskets?

Answer

Once

Solution

The key is that the boxes labeled incorrectly, and thus each is not what is written. That is, in the box labeled C (mixture) can be either only apples (I), or just bananas (B). We get out of fruit - apple caught? So, it's a box with apples.

You're 2 boxes - with notes I and B, and you know that this is not true, and in box B can be either apples or a mixture. But apples, we have already identified, so it is a mixture. Well, in the last box labeled I, it turns out, there are bananas

Before you three switches, but only one light bulb includes a floor below. On your site you can neither see, nor hear, whether it caught fire. How to determine which switch for light bulbs, if only once to go down and check out?

Solution

Include any of the three switches and wait 5-10 minutes to light (if lit) has had time to warm up. Then turn off the first and second turn on the switch, and to go down to check. If the light is off, but warm, then it is responsible for the first switch. If the lights now, then the second. And if does not burn and the cold, then the third.
