Crystal "Desert Rose"
In Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt and some other countries, where a lot of sandy deserts are very popular souvenirs among tourists is an unusual mineral called "Desert Rose." The shape of these structures resemble flowers, mostly roses, though their form may be quite unlike the flowers. Such minerals are aggregates of gypsum crystals formed in the layer of sand. "Desert Rose" only occurs under certain conditions when the deserts of precipitation. The water quickly goes into the dry sand, carrying in its interior of pieces of plaster. During evaporation of the water rises again to the surface, forming a new gypsum crystals have a twisted form. Sand also becomes part of the crystal, and its size can be very diverse. "Desert Rose" is sold as a conventional crystal, and as unpretentious trinkets, souvenirs, pendants and other jewelry.
