Skyscraper as a last chance

About this project I was going to write a very long time. But that was not beautiful photos, then no one really talked. Finally appeared comprehensible description, which I hasten to share with you.

This post is about the lives of people who had nowhere to go. On the inhabitants of "Tower of David" in Caracas, which was turned into an abandoned skyscraper, "a city within a city", a separate world that confronts the world.

In 1994, during the expansion of the financial crisis in Venezuela was halted construction of a skyscraper inspires respect to the proud name of "Tower of David." Chief architect died and poludostroennoe building became a haven, a home and the whole world for thousands of illegal immigrants.

It all started with the fact that David Brillembur planned construction of a 45-storey office buildings in downtown Caracas. But to complete the building, he did not, the building is not sold, then the crisis came, and building no one was going to renew. Moreover, no one was guarding the building, and gradually began to settle there homeless. Since 2007, they have come here to sleep, to eat, to wait out the rains. And then settled, had children, and eventually settled in a house.

Today the tower is home to more than 3,500 people. Residents organized themselves, painted the walls, put doors and windows, plumbing and electrical conducted. Organized area for volleyball and even arranged the dentist's office.

Originally skyscraper was to contain the roof landing pad for private helicopters. Now they dismantled the roof and quite dangerous pit, around which, nevertheless, the children play.

The building was constructed on the basis of a spiral, and on the tenth floor can be reached both on foot and by bicycle or even on a motorcycle. As long as people have occupied 28 floors. Suppose further that hospitably 27.

Venezuelan police, fearing riots, tried to evict and arrest illegal immigrants. But, oddly enough, these people were the safest community residents a peaceful condominium city. Nor prohibited drugs or Sabbaths, nor intoxicating. They just need housing, and many believe the presence of the tower godsend.

Frankly, these pictures give birth in me thoughts of the great thirst for survival. And begs phrase title of the painting "Life is everywhere."
