Moscow. How it began
In 1961, it opened to traffic on the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD), which was the boundary of the city. The length of the road is 108 km. The roadway width of seven meters was divided into green areas. For turns and turns it used transport interchanges. The outside Moscow included the former city of the Moscow region: Grandmother, Lublin, Kuntsevo, Perov, Tushino and others. Laying Moscow has greatly simplified the traffic. In 1994-1999 it was carried out reconstruction of the Moscow Ring Road. Today it is - urban highway desyatiryadnaya European level.

Construction of roads (not counting the pre-war and wartime) began in late 1956, around the Yaroslavl highway.
The first section was opened to traffic in 1960, the movement around the ring - in 1962.
The ring road is 2 (two lanes in each direction) 7-meter-wide, separated by a 4-meter dividing strip. The edge of the road was paved with corrugated plates.
In total, the ring was 7 bridges and 54 overpasses. Initially, the ring road had 33 two-level junction with the road coming out of Moscow, and in the early 1980s. at the intersection of Simferopol highway built a three-tier. Initially, the road did not have asphalt pavement. We used the filler concrete. From August 1960 to early 1984 ROW Ring served as administrative border of the city of Moscow.
With the reconstruction of the Moscow Ring Road involves a lot of legends and scandals. There is a version that Luzhkov stole 10 centimeters from the curb kazhoy and earned millions. No less a fun story about the pillars - when repairing Moscow - the handing out contracts - had its peremeret. And it turned out that the kilometer posts stand as necessary - the longest distance between kilometer posts turned out to 1800m, and the smallest - 700m. Despite the absurdity of the situation, we decided to keep the location of the pillars - the police and road services accustomed to their position and know where everything is, and if it is a message "on such and such a city - an accident" - they know where to go.
