Ban the Bible

Did you know that on March 11, 1931 in the Soviet Union had banned the import and sale of the Bible? This book is equated with anti-Soviet literature, as the party considers contrary to the ideas of Marxism-Leninism.
Bolsheviks from the very first day in office, headed for the destruction of the church - just remember mass executions of priests during the Civil War or the campaign to seize church property in 1922 engineered by the vampires with only one purpose - the defeat of the church organization, arresting and then shooting Patriarch and Synod members. Patriarch Tikhon was arrested and held in the inner prison of the OGPU, but exemplary case to equip not work, so they let him go home - under house arrest.

After the death of Tikhon in 1925, it seemed to be baiting the Church gradually eroding. But, as it turned out, it was not just a pause, a lull before the storm.
In the early 30's flywheel anti-Catholic campaign began to unwind with a bang - but now the Bolsheviks would not simply destroy the church, but also to eradicate the very memory of God.

At the turn of the decade took place in Moscow "historic" II Congress of the Union of Atheists, on which this organization was renamed the Union of Militant Atheists. The name change marked a sharp turn to the anti-religious rhetoric - from a rather good-naturedly atheistic propaganda power passed to create their own cult - a grotesque parody of Christianity. However, the one who would recognize the absurdity of the government's actions to be destroyed.

The working masses have to crush the main class enemy, acting under religious cover, - called on the chief infidel countries councils Emelyan Yaroslavsky. - It's time to finally put an end to asset priests, rabbis, mullahs, preachers, preachers of every kind, shamans, witches and other parasites lurking on the body of the Soviet Union, and are in fact counter-terry has not yet fallen into the Solovki ... "

How were the new Soviet holidays? Very simply - with nightly torchlight procession that was similar to the likes of processions from the Italian fascists. "Antireligioznik staged in the village at night a torchlight procession with songs on the square near the church put speakers to heap abuse of parishioners - wrote in his diaries scientist and Archpriest Mikhail Elabuzhsky. - At the station, Bishop Ambrose grabbed by the hair ... It is necessary to wait for the new disasters ".

It should be offered to abandon the Christian names, and to give children new "communist".

For more convincing, a lecture about the dangers of religion were read in former churches, temples are reworked in a new communist "religion".

However, it battered not only Orthodox churches. The first blow struck by an atheist Yaroslavl synagogues.

In Belarus closed all Catholic churches.

But despite the efforts of atheists, citizens were in no hurry to follow suit. Moreover, the response was a wave of persecution wonderful "update" - the citizens believed that mysteriously "updated" on the gilding of church domes on the salaries of icons. Dramatically increased the number of members of the various sects and Old Believer communities. Then the authorities decided to strike down: the Bible was banned, the celebration of Christmas, the calendar was changed - instead of the usual weeks were introduced "five days" in which it was difficult to calculate the time of the most important religious holidays ...

It was organized and the labor movement "Down Easter!"

But the government itself could not do without the "miraculous signs" - for example, in this photograph shows the wonderful Leningrad tread marks passers-by in the form of stars.
