Crater
Few people know that this place is in Russian.
Patom crater - cone of crushed limestone boulders on the hillside Patom highlands in the Irkutsk region. Discovered in 1949 by geologist Vadim Kolpakov.
Among the local population is called "Eagle Nest fire", also known under the names "Cone Kolpakov," "Dzhebuldinsky crater", "Yavaldinsky crater».
Patom crater is a circular structure with clearly defined zonation, which reflects the continued education of its main structural elements: 1) the outer slope of the cone, 2) the annular shaft, 3) circular ditch and 4) central peak. The crater is located among clastic-carbonate rocks and is a material cones, composed mainly of limestone, but there are also other rocks: sandstones, shales, metamorphosed, feldspar, carbonate and quartz veins.
The height of about 40 m, a diameter of the ridge - 76 m. Crowned flat-topped cone, which is an annular shaft. In the center of the funnel slide up to 12 m. The total volume of the cone is estimated at 230-250 million cubic meters, weight - about one million tons.
And another interesting fact. This crater is located in relatively close proximity (less than 1 thousand km.) From the crash site of the Tunguska meteorite.
That's where the really would like to visit!
