The biggest monument of communism in Bulgaria

Mount Buzludzha considered sacred to the communist Bulgarian Communists. It's not even the appointed place, and historical features, which later tried to turn into a place of worship.

Yes, of course, combining the concepts of "sacred" and "communism" looks rather wildly, so we call this architectural structure simple monument. Its construction took about seven years, and in 1981 the building was opened. In exactly to the 1300th anniversary of the Bulgarian state.

This is not just a monumental building, at the moment ruined temple communism looks like post-apocalyptic picture. If you choose tours in Bulgaria in the coming summer, be sure to check this place, at least from afar. It's worth it.

And now, a little history. It all started in 1868, the year when the Bulgarian governor Hadji Dimitar and thirty of his Chetniks were surrounded by Turkish troops on top of the mountain. Naturally, the opposition 30 to seven hundred ended tragically. Killing all Bulgarians. Since 1942, the top official was renamed Hadji Dimitar, however, the name did not stick.

Subsequently, on this mountain to make important decisions about the establishment of the party and a few others, at least in principle. Held here the most significant event since taking the pioneers and ending celebrations and anniversaries achievements of the Comintern leaders.

Since 1989, the year when the communist regime in Bulgaria was overthrown, and the building gradually fell into disrepair, having lost all communications and valuable finish. Massive star over the house-monument was hit by helicopter. The same fate awaited government and nearby cottages, as well as the rest of the monuments.

However, the Communists gather here every year on July 20 to celebrate the anniversary of the Communist Party of Bulgaria, and history buffs, two days earlier, organize historical reconstruction of the events of the battle of Hadji Dimitar and his Chetniks.
