Odessa Lina Borozdina visited space and shared photos in Instagram

January 26, 2024. From the cosmodrome "America" in southwestern New Mexico launches the mission Galactic 06. Thousands of enthusiasts with a fading heart are waiting for its completion. American of Ukrainian origin Lina Borozdina is about to make a flight into space. The one she went to for almost 20 years. On the way to her dream, Lina mortgaged her own house and defeated a terrible disease. And it was worth it!

An American scientist originally from Odessa became the first Ukrainian who saw the Earth from the windows of a spacecraft. Together with three other tourists, Lina Borozdina spent about 90 minutes in suborbital space.

The adventure was organized by Virgin Galactic. The woman bought her ticket back in 2005 for a fabulous $200,000. She had to mortgage the house to raise the money she needed. Now a flight into space would cost her 450,000 dollars.

Lina emigrated to the States in 1991. She came to visit her sister, but stayed for life: she applied for political asylum after the collapse of the USSR. She is a biochemist at American International Chemical and LGC Genomics Division.

Since childhood, the scientist was obsessed with the stars. Limitless space fascinated, and dad’s fairy tales about space travel gave birth to a big dream in a little girl. Growing up in Odessa, the idea of flying into space was something as unattainable as Disneyland.

In 2005, she first heard the name of entrepreneur Richard Branson. Like her, the multi-billionaire wanted to make his childhood dream come true and go to space. He could have just bought a ticket to the space station, but instead set up his own space tourism company.

The founder of Virgin Galactic has opened an online set for everyone who wants to fly into space and received 13,000 applications in just the first week. Among them was a letter from Lina's ex-husband. He wrote to the company in secret because he knew she loved the stars.

Instagram Fate smiled at the dreamer. She entered the first hundred lucky people who will go on a fantastic journey. Borozdina received her ticket with the inscription "Welcome to Space".

Unfortunately, the dream had to be postponed for 19 years. The flight was postponed due to government orders, conflicts with competitors and failures in experimental aviation. During this time, Lina went through a divorce, a change of job and breast cancer. But the cherished envelope helped her get back on her feet. Borozdin was waiting for space.

On January 26, the Virgin Galactic VMS Eve carrier aircraft dropped the six-seat spaceplane VSS Unity at an altitude of 13,700 m. The passengers survived a few minutes of weightlessness and landed 90 minutes later.

Most of all, Lina was struck by the deep blue color of the globe and how bright the planet glows against the background of a huge boundless blackness. The woman seemed to be out of time and could do nothing. And it was very quiet, as in the catacombs in the village of Nerubayskoe near Odessa, where the partisans hid during the Second World War.

According to Borozdina, neither aerodynamic simulators nor stimulators will be able to prepare for the feeling of load during takeoff and landing. During training, the American plunged into the water and smoothly reached the point of overstrain. But in space, everything happened too fast, causing a burning sensation.

And the scientist considered it necessary to debunk the main belief of flat-earthers. Our planet is really round. This was one of the most important achievements of her journey.

Borozdin flew into space with a Ukrainian flag sewn on her sleeve. Another big flag, which was signed and handed over by Ukrainian children, she took with her on board. However, it did not disclose it due to the internal rules of the ship. But the symbol of Ukraine has been in space. Lina wanted to remind the world that there is still war in her homeland. Children die, but people don’t stop fighting.

Lina also shared her achievement with all the women of the world. Her message was, “Don’t stop dreaming and believing!” Every woman in the world, from young to great, should not only wash dishes, clean the kitchen or have children. She should be proud of herself and strive for the stars.

So the name of a private astronaut from Ukraine and American California appeared on the Virgin Galactic website and entrenched in the hearts of thousands of people around the globe. With the example of Lina, we are convinced that the hidden comes true. There is money, opportunities and the right people are attracted. The main thing is to know what you want. Never stop believing and dreaming.
