Photographer captured cats during the war, left by the owners torn to pieces
Animals suffer no less during the war. They don’t understand what’s going on and live in constant stress. Not all pets are lucky to be safe. Some owners leave their four-legged friends to their fate. Someone remains imprisoned in his own apartment, and someone has to wander through the deserted streets of military cities and villages.
Instagram / @konstantin_sova But happy stories happen and animals are saved by volunteers. Some of them I want to share with you today are inspiring. And at the end of the article I will show a series of pictures of Ukrainian photographer Konstantin Sova. He takes pictures of stray cats to help owners find missing pets.
I want to start with a touching story of saving a cat from the Beard. The village is located in the Kiev region. It was here that one of the first pictures that struck the whole world was taken. The massive destruction of a 9-storey house as a result of the arrival of an air bomb shocked the world community. However, it was not the only building destroyed by the invaders.
Instagram / @zoopatrul.ua There is no living place left from the Beard. The desire for life is stronger than any other feeling. This is known firsthand cat, sitting in a bombed-out apartment without water and food for 2 months. It was noticed by caring people and immediately called the service of SES and volunteers.
The wart was released from the Russian occupiers on April 1. The cat was rescued on May 2. She was stuck on the 7th floor of the destroyed house and miraculously survived the shelling of enemy troops. To collect the animal, rescuers used a crane. Then the redhead was taken to the nearest veterinary clinic, examined and fed properly.
Volunteers of the Ukrainian organization “Zoopatrul” called the cat Shafa. They created an Instagram page for her, where they show how the animal is slowly returning to normal life. When the news about Shafe spread all over the Internet, 12 people appeared at once, calling themselves the real owners of the cat.
The cynicism of people on this issue has reached its climax. The cat has become popular and now everyone wants it. Volunteers will not give the animal to the first person they meet. Now the main task is to put the cat on its feet. And then they will look for worthy owners.
In Avdiivka from under the rubble of the destroyed house got a cat. He was completely burned, but survived. On the Internet, he began to be called the Phoenix, reborn from hell. The animal lives in the office of the man who rescued it. The pet is gradually returning to normal.
When the cat was taken to the veterinary clinic, doctors suspected that the animal could become blind and deaf. But fortunately, that didn't happen. Phoenix is recovering well.
Wild animals also suffer because of the war. For example, in Kharkiv, the Feldman Ecopark has repeatedly come under fire. With the help of volunteers, lions, tigers, moose and other animals managed to take to the zoos of Odessa and Kiev. Many rockets also hit the territory of the Nikolaev zoo. It is hard to imagine the stress that its inhabitants experience on a daily basis.
Earlier on the page of Konstantin Sova in Instagram there were many photos of happy people. Today, the photographer’s account is full of pain and tears. Through the photo he shows what war is. The war in Ukraine.
Instagram / @konstantin_sova Konstantin is not only photographing the faces of disadvantaged people and destroyed buildings. On the camera screen, he also captures animals who have become homeless due to the war. So the photographer wants to help the old owners find the missing animal.
Instagram / @konstantin_sova "Most of these animals are abandoned or lost." They are located in Gostomel and Gorenka, about 20 minutes drive from Kiev. I saved the Google map where I met these poor people. Please contact us, Owl writes in one of his posts. Anyone can write to the photographer. And he will tell you where to find this or that fluff.
Konstantin is also photographing lost dogs. There are also pictures of abandoned horses on his blog. We sincerely hope that every abandoned animal will find a new home and reliable owners!
The war forever changed the life of each of the Ukrainians. The people rallied and fought for their loved ones, their land and their freedom. That is the meaning of life now. Let me remind you again that animals feel just as much as we do. They also need support and care during this difficult time. Take care of yourself and your fuzzies!
