The grandmother, born in the year of the beginning of World War II, often made pancakes on the water without eggs

Pancakes "Military" - that's what my grandmother called them, who was born in the year of the beginning of World War II. Times were tough, and sometimes even this dish seemed like a luxury. Remembering the past, Grandma sometimes used this one. eggless pancake. She wrapped a tasty filling in a lean basis, and the little I mentioned the headers for both cheeks.

The time is also military (not all products can be bought), and Lent is also a great time. So I remembered this recipe and decided to share it with you. I'm sure you might need it! At the end of the article, I will tell you what a strategic mistake I made while cooking.

Recipe of pancakes on water without eggs I have already been burned many times, preparing pancakes according to different recipes. And in all this time, I've learned one major thing: You should always strictly follow the proportions.. You may not have experienced this, but in my case, a step to the right, a step to the left, and a pancake kayuk! That’s probably why I don’t bake them very often. But Grandma's recipe for pancakes on the water without eggs wanted to revive. Spoiler: It didn't work.

The ingredients
  • 400 ml of water
  • 4 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 200g wheat flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 0.5 tsp salt

Preparation
  1. The first thing I do is heat the water to room temperature. Add salt and sugar to it, stir until the dry ingredients are completely dissolved. Then I pour vegetable oil into the water. The recipe says sunflower, but I used olive. Do you think there is any significant difference?

  2. In oil water I add sifted flour. I measured strictly according to the recipe, however, I took not ordinary wheat flour of the highest grade, but whole grain. And here was my biggest mistake. I'll tell you later what's wrong.
  3. I mix everything together so that there are no lumps of flour. I used a wreathhead mixer. As a result, the dough should not be very liquid, but also not very thick. I added a little more water to my bottom.

  4. For frying, I first used a special pancake pan. A little oiled her with a brush and fryed the first pancake. Coming out. Like all the other pancakes, though. I even changed the pan to see what the problem was. But it was much more trivial. I'll tell you below.
  5. Back to the recipe. If you did everything right and used ingredients from the recipe without changing anything, then you will succeed. In the center of the heated pan pour half a ladle with a thin trickle dough. In a circular motion, distribute the dough throughout the pan plane. Roast pancakes for 1-1.5 minutes on each side on low or medium heat. Orient your pan and stove. Done!

Editorial advice: personal experience You probably already understood what my puncture was. I used whole wheat flour, not regular white flour. The fact is that it weights the dough, because of which pancakes break during frying. I read that this flour can be used, but it should be mixed with white. This is an advanced level of cooking.

In the preparation of pancakes, a lot depends on the skill of the hostess, as well as on the ingredients and even the pan. I realized that mine is absolutely not good. The pancakes were awfully pestering her, although there was oil, and the pan warmed up well. Maybe you can tell me what else I could have done wrong. Ready to fix it!

Back to my failed test. I'm not used to throwing out groceries, especially considering it's not a good time to waste. From the rest of the dough, I made a cake using the technology I described not so long ago in my article. Then I was making a simple lean cherry pie. I really liked it, so I recommend you to check out this recipe.

How's it going with pancakes? Do you often make them for your family?
