Face protective masks: classification and features of choice

One of the methods of protecting the body from diseases that are transmitted by airborne droplets is a mask. It is put on the face so that it covers the mouth and nose. This reduces the risk of saliva and other discharge in the air.
Most often, face masks are found on employees of various medical institutions, cosmetology centers, tattoos and beauty salons.
Classification of protective face masks
There are several main types of masks, namely:
  • Disposable medical mask. According to technology, it is produced in three layers. The middle layer is the filter. In order to fix the mask on the face, you need to use a flexible insert. This mask can be found in any pharmacy. Such masks should be changed every two to three hours. After its use period is over, the mask must be disposed of.
  • Respirator. It is made of a dense filtration material, which is stretched on a rigid base. There are several types of respirators, which differ in the degree of protection from various bacteria. Most often it is fixed with one rubber band, which is located on the back of the head.
  • The mask is fabric. It can be used many times. Experts say that this mask should be changed every four hours. The fabric mask can be treated with washing, as well as steaming with an iron.
There are also masks that are notable for their sterility. Most often they are used in operating medical institutions. For everyday life, one type of mask, which is described above, will be enough.
Features of the choice of protective masks
Of course, you need to choose a mask based on your budget and ultimate goals. In the event that protective equipment is necessary to visit the hospital, then it is better to use a three-layer mask. When choosing a mask, you need to pay attention to the following points:
  • It is made of a thick material that does not shine through;
  • presence of at least three layers;
  • high-quality firmware on the edges, which confirms factory production;
  • the presence of a plastic flexible insert that will not damage either the mask or the skin of the face;
  • comfortable gums that do not pull off the skin;
  • availability of factory packaging.
A high quality product will have all the features described above. But it’s also worth noting that such masks won’t be too budget-friendly, but they do provide reliable protection against viruses.
