Sometimes you start tidying the closet, and you realize that you have a bunch of different socks in your drawer without a pair. Have you ever done this? My socks are being stolen by a dog, and there's a mountain of guinea pig-spoiled socks. They are lonely and it is a shame to throw them away. But I found a way to give them a new life.
sew seats on chairs with your own hands.
Seats on chairs with their own hands When it comes to chairs, then in a house with animals and children, wooden durable chairs without upholstery will last longer. But it's impossible to sit on them for long. Home shops sell separately soft seats for wooden and garden chairs. They are of different shapes and colors, with rivets, rivets and bright patterns.
But why spend money on these things when you can make a home decor item yourself? And it won't be some shop seat. The patchwork technique, in which a seat is made for a chair made of socks, wounds in the seme sentimental moments from life, warm memories that are so dear to us.
On the Moth Art channel, the deft craftswoman showed a detailed master class on how to sew a bright unique seat onto a chair. Turns out it's pretty simple, but it's meditative, so if you like sewing, this is the master class for you.
You'll need it.
- socks
- thread
- shears
- pattern
- pin
- 1m cotton fabric
- 0.5 m decorative ribbon
- 0.5 m of dense tissue
- pencil
- Prepare a template: cut out a square of 8 by 8 cm from cardboard or dense paper. Using this pattern, measure and cut 36 squares from cotton thin fabric.
- On the squares of cotton recede along the edges of 0.7 mm and draw lines on all sides of the square. Do that to all the squares of fabric.
- Now cut off the rubber band and sock from each sock. Step away from the heel a short distance and cut the two parts of the sock, then cut them on one side, you get two rectangles from one sock.
- Each piece of sock is connected to one square of cotton fabric. Sew each square on all sides.
- Now connect 6 squares with each other in 1 strip. It turns out 6 strips that need to be sewn into 1 square.
- Now make a small hole with scissors in the cotton part of each square and fill the square with syntepon. Close all the holes.
- To hide the unsightly cotton part, connect the seat face to face with a dense cloth, then turn it out and the stitched hole. If desired, you can make ruffles from decorative tape.

The idea of solo socks was so inspiring that I don’t throw away things I don’t wear anymore. In the world, the conscious consumption movement is gaining popularity. The rules of the movement are: before you throw something away, think about how it can be used, if it can not be reused, then it must be recycled.
In fact, many craftsmen undertake to knit carpets from unnecessary textiles, some sew authentic bags and cosmetics, turning the fabric into yarn. And when you create something like this with your own hands, it has great value for you and for your children. Isn't it?
