One day my mother-in-law bought a lot of meat and asked me to freeze it from us.

“We had a large freezer a year ago. We decided to make this purchase to get food for the whole family. And the mother-in-law decided to fall on the tail, says Lena. With her husband and young child, Lena moved to the village recently. Living in the apartment became crowded, and in nature it is easier to breathe. So the family bought a small house in a small village where her husband's mother lives.

When we bought a house, we expected to help our mother-in-law who lives on the other side of the street. This village is a few kilometers from the city, it is very convenient, because Daniil goes to work every day, and I sit with the baby at home.

In the decree I wanted to have my own business. I decided that I would grow homemade vegetables. So Dania made me a little greenhouse. Things didn’t always go well, we used to eat one potato and sauerkraut for months because all the money went to build a house.

Last year we decided to buy a freezer for the winter. Canned food and frozen berries are not lost. When my mother-in-law found out we had a freezer, she asked for a favor. Anna Mikhailovna bought meat on the cheap, but it did not fit in her refrigerator. So she asked me to freeze it with us.

The place was free, so I agreed. And then almost immediately regretted her decision. My husband’s sister also bought berries and decided to keep them with me. My mother-in-law visited us often, and Sister Dani came and took the frost away from us in parts. Sometimes they would just pick up the keys and go to get the groceries when no one was home.

I didn't look in the freezer for a long time, and a month later I wanted to bake a charlotte with cherries. When I opened the freezer, I was speechless. Her mother-in-law and Vera ruined her and took even what I had prepared for our family. Since they came when we weren't at home, they thought I was taking a little food too, and they took almost everything. I didn’t want to argue with anyone, but the situation was unpleasant. And when I decided to talk to my mother-in-law, she told me that neither berries nor mushrooms I should have grown, they themselves grew up in the forest and in the garden. Yes, only they had to be collected, washed and prepared. And I did it all.

This year my family asked me to freeze my food. I just don't want to help them anymore. Let them spend money on their freezer and use it whenever they want. But the mother-in-law does not want to spend savings, she likes to use other people's things. And so everyone was comfortable when they ate my blanks.

There are often misunderstandings between relatives due to the fact that everyone counts on trust and mutual help. That's what happened to Lena. As much as we want to help relatives, sometimes it is better to set personal boundaries and not give the keys to the house even to the mother of the husband. The point is not that Lena is sorry for a place in the freezer, she sees how her efforts are devalued and left with nothing. But she also tries to take care of her husband and child, otherwise she would not cook food, but would buy canned food in the city. Would you let your mother-in-law use the freezer again?
