Nikolai Karachentsov Nikolai Petrovich Karachentsov was born on October 27, 1944 in Moscow. His father was a famous artist-illustrator, and his mother - a famous choreographer, her productions were in the largest theaters of the USSR. When Kola was 7 years old, his mother had to give him to a boarding school at the Ministry of Foreign Trade, because she was constantly traveling.
Kolya studied well, was an activist. From a young age he grew up among creative people, and perhaps this influenced the choice of future profession. Since childhood, he lit up ballet, but his mother instructed in more male classes. So Nikolai began to play sports, so he always boasted of excellent physical shape.
But the boy’s creative soul drew him to the stage. In high school, he performed in the creative group “Active” at the Central Children’s Theater. Nicholas repeatedly recalled that during these rehearsals he felt in his place. After graduation, he entered the Moscow Art Theater School on his first attempt.
The young man graduated from the school with honors, showing himself in graduate performances. Usually, studio schools sent graduates to the Moscow Art Theater, but it was in that year that the Lenin Komsomol Theater had an acute shortage of actors, so Nikolai joined the Lenkoma troupe among the top ten graduates.
At first, Karachentsov played small roles in the plays “Smoke of the Fatherland”, “My Poor Marat”, “Farewell, Arms!”. However, in 1973, Mark Zakharov, a new artistic director, came to the theater. With him began a new era in the life of Lenkom and Karachentsov.
At first, Zakharov entrusted him with a small role in the musical “Autograd-XXI”. After that, he entrusted Nicholas with the role of Thiel Ulenspiegel in the new play Thiel, which in Soviet times became a real cultural revolution. A cheerful production about a brave and intelligent rebel, who knew how to get out of any situation, won the hearts of the audience.
Getting a ticket to the play was very difficult, the excitement was incredible. Accordingly, the main characters of the play - Nikolai Karachentsov and Inna Churikov - he made stars. By the way, the performance was listed in the repertoire of the theater for almost 20 years.
Since then, theatrical career of Karachentsov went uphill, he played two roles at once in the rock opera The Star and Death of Joaquin Murieta. The show was a success for 17 seasons. After the operation, the actor was in a coma for 26 days. After that there was a difficult period of rehabilitation, treatment abroad. However, the consequences of the accident put an end to the acting career of Nikolai Karachentsov. His speech never fully recovered. After a long period of rehabilitation in Israel and China, he got better, and in 2013 he even played in movies again.
It would seem that everything began to improve, but the evil rock did not retreat. In 2017, the actor was diagnosed with cancer, with which he fought the last months, but, alas, could not win. And today, the day before his 74th birthday, Nikolai Karachentsov died.
