What do foreigners fear when they enter our apartments?

Modern ideas of apartment design allow you to transform beyond recognition any home. But expensive repairs require a lot of funds that many people in the post-Soviet space simply do not have. So it is necessary year after year to witness the usual picture both in the entrance and in the apartment itself.

But it turns out that foreign visitors our apartments are terribly surprised. And today's edition. "Site" I want to know why this is happening. And why the same Europeans who decided to come to visit, consider such housing uncomfortable and uncomfortable.

It is difficult to surprise us with carpets on the walls, laminate on the floor or a wall for sets. But people who grew up in a different environment and have a different mentality look at all this “magnificence” with bewilderment. They understand comfort differently. These are the things that amaze them the most.

  1. Entrances
Foreigners are surprised to see the entrances and facades of houses. At first, it seems that it is simply impossible to live in such buildings. But when they get inside, they realize it's not all that bad. They are also unusual to see iron doors with intercoms, which for us seem quite common. Often there are problems in a foreigner and in the parking lot, because sometimes it is very difficult to find a free place to park. And the French sometimes complain that apartment buildings do not have basements where you can store your favorite drinks.

  2. Repairs
Of course, the “grandmother’s” repair will also have questions. After all, why does the apartment need this large Yugoslav wall with dust dishes? And why are the walls covered with carpets with colorful patterns? By the way, the abundance of patterns on any surface is a feature that we do not notice, but which foreigners immediately pay attention to. We like this “beauty” on wallpaper, carpets and blankets. But visiting guests are sure that the patterns not only constantly attract attention, but also tire a person, exhaust him on a subconscious level.

  3. Strange shades.
Orange and cinnamon colors prevail in almost any apartment. We believe that such warm shades add comfort to the house. But the fact is that with limited space (in cramped apartments), such colors make the room difficult to perceive, catch up with longing. And such gloomy homes are more likely to scare away than attract foreign visitors.
Why is a smiling guest angry? No tight curtains.
Foreigners sometimes want to sleep, even if the window is still light. Therefore, you need curtains that do not let sunlight through. But such blackout curtains are not available in every apartment. And blinds do not save the situation and only annoy visitors.

Cheap furniture
To refresh the home, it is easiest to replace old furniture with something, albeit cheap, but exclusively new. However, such an update is often detrimental. The interior loses originality, becomes faceless. Although if there is old quality furniture, it is more reasonable to restore it, turning it into a real decoration for the house. It’s better than buying the cheapest at the nearest furniture store.

Crowded balconies
On their balconies, the French and Italians used to grow flowers or arrange gatherings, drink tea and just communicate. But our man thinks differently. After all, the balcony can be glazed, closed from all sides and used for household needs. Dry clothes here or store anything that might ever come in handy. The cluttered view of our balconies leads foreigners to real horror. But what can you do...

Of course, foreign visitors are surprised by many things. For example, they can’t figure out why we have hot water turned off in the summer (although we don’t always understand this either). Therefore, experienced guests, if they decide to rent housing, immediately look for an apartment with a boiler. That's safer.
