Menu of the standard Soviet table for the birthday
My dad's having a birthday soon. Yesterday we thought about what to do with festiveI asked my dad what he wanted my mom and I to cook for him. And he sighed and said with nostalgia in his voice: “I want as before, that the festive table for the birthday was full of dishes, and the guests sat until the morning and sang songs.” And meat, fish and poultry. And mayonnaise salads! Not your shrimp and avocado on toast.
It was good before the times, nothing to say! Then they knew how to have fun, did it with pleasure - and received guests, and went to visit. That's it. Soviet And they amazed foreigners with their abundance and some stiffness.
Celebration table for the birthday Today edition "Site" I want you to remember what the standard menu was like. Soviet table for your birthday and more!
Since the mid-60s, when the consequences of World War II were already overcome, Soviet citizens began to try to live beautifully. What is interesting, despite the variety of options cookingA number of dishes were characteristic of almost any feast.

By the way, these dishes could be found not only on the "day of the birthday" festive table, but also on the New Year, and on any other holiday.
Decorating the table There was meat. Usually it was baked carcasses of geese, turkeys and chickens. For the Soviet feast was characterized by such a presentation, it immediately determined the status of the table. The larger the dish on which the roast is served, the better. Cut this splendor at the table, which was not always good for the appearance.

In addition to meat, salted mushrooms, pickles and tomatoes were served, which also deservedly occupied their important place on the table. I think that there is no need to say that all these gastronomic delights were served in beautiful painted and, if possible, in crystal dishes.
Fish dishes are often served gravy. Remember in "The Irony of Fate": "What a disgusting thing this bay slave of yours is!" Although, in truth, it was not disgusting, but very tasty and hearty! If the fish was not very large, it was fried in pieces.

On the table was necessarily present herring iwashi, sliced in pieces, watered with vegetable oil and thickly covered with onion rings. From the mouth of this herring, as a rule, a bundle of green onions or a leaf of parsley protruded, which put the winning point in this gastronomic design.

Herring or Sardin? Ivasi is a Far Eastern sardine, most of the inhabitants of our country are better known as “herring Ivasi”. Ivasi was valued especially: it was believed that this is a small, fat and unusually tasty herring. In fact, sardine Iwasi is just a close relative of Pacific herring. They belong to one family of herrings and are very similar in appearance. And the name Iwashi passed to us from the Japanese: from the Japanese language it is translated - sardine. Once catch Ivasi was very large: it was caught off the coast of the Kuril Islands, Sakhalin and Kamchatka. However, in the 80s, the Iwashi practically disappeared from Russian waters, the population depleted, and fishing was banned for 25 years. In recent years, huge schools of Far Eastern sardines have been observed in the Kuril waters. So this delicious and healthy fish will again become an affordable delicacy and take pride of place on our tables. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
