Swedish energy company Vattenfall will soon start construction of the largest offshore wind farm in Scandinavia Danish Kriegers Flak with a capacity of 600 MW in the Baltic sea. When the project is completed, it will produce the cheapest in the world of offshore wind energy at a price of 49,9 euros per megawatt-hour (about $54 US).
The Kriegers Flak wind farm will be one of three offshore wind farms, thanks to which the Danish Parliament plans to abandon fossil fuels by 2050. Vattenvall build and two other projects: Horns Rev 3 with a capacity of 406 MW and Danish Near Shore project with combined generating capacity of 305 MW. Besides that the Danish Kriegers Flak will become the largest marine wind farm in Scandinavia, what he writes Clean Technica, it will also manufacture the most cheapest in the world of marine wind energy, which will cost less than 60 euros per megawatt-hour, the price of wind energy produced by Danish Near Shore, was named in September 2016, the lowest in the world. For comparison, the average cost of energy onshore wind, announced Bloomberg New Energy Finance earlier in November to $ 126 per megawatt-hour.
"This announcement is an important milestone in our plans to increase renewable energy production," said Magnus Hall, CEO of Vattenfall. "We have become the second largest player on the shelf all over the world. The winning bid for 49.9 EUR per megawatt-hour proves that Vattenfall is very competitive and reduces the cost of renewable energy." It is expected that the project will produce enough electricity to cover about 600,000 homes in Denmark, which is about 23% of all households in the country. published
