BYD will start assembling buses in Europe

Chinese manufacturer of electric buses and passenger car manufacturer BYD plans to open a new small-scale plant for the production of buses in komárom, Hungary.

Production of buses at the new facility, expected to begin in early 2017 — the initial production volume will be 200 units per year. Ultimately, it is planned to double production to 400 units per year.

Although these numbers are not especially impressive (about 25 thousand buses were sold in 2015 in Europe), but BYD is an important step. New investments in the amount of 20 million euros in the plant with a mosquito is the first such investment of Chinese OEMs in the European market of buses.

The European market has great potential, and BYD can use this to market for rapid growth in the future.

"The company is building a bus factory in komárom, a city with a population of 20,000 people in the North of the country.... Interesnym is the fact that we are talking about electric buses, and this is the first such investment by a Chinese company in Europe" — according to the state news Agency Xinhua.

It is noteworthy that the sales of electric buses is growing much more rapidly in China than in Europe. While in the Chinese market there is a lot of competition among companies producing electric buses in large volumes, the European market of electric autobusu relatively undeveloped — this means that the company has the chance to lead an emerging market, and potentially capture a large share of it. published
