The transformation of the old mill
In the Middle ages in Scotland there were many fortresses, castles and other stone buildings. Unfortunately, time and wars turned them into ruins, which was soon given the status of monuments. Sometimes, though, the ancient ruins and restore to open them in the hotel or restaurant. However, much more interesting to observe a ruined building, stone by stone are transformed into unusual homes!
So, in June 2011, a major Scottish company Rural Design have completed the construction of a family cottage, which was built on the ruins of the old stone mill in the town of Dingwall. The architect had to work hard to transform the abandoned ruins in something like that! Rural Design have taken care not only about the future of the house looked interesting and unusual, but that he stood still for a very long time!
To revive the life of the collapsed mill was decided by restoring the stone walls and insulating walls. And since some of the walls in an abandoned building couldn't be restored, the experts Rural Design proposed to replace them. So, in the house there was a lot of additional Windows, with a facade and from the yard it joined with the light wooden outbuildings, and destroyed the tower design complements the second floor, which was devoted to a large master bedroom.
Moreover, the connection of all objects on the site managed not only through the building up and reconstruction, but also an interesting landscape solutions. So, very interesting connecting link to serve speed flowerbeds and a large patio for gardening classes.
Interior design in unusual house rests on the shoulders of designers Rural Design, who felt that the revived to life of the mill building, deserves a design in the style of a country house. Therefore, in the interior were many wooden elements. This beams that support the pitched roof, furniture, and stairs, and floors, and even frames for the photos are very expressive look at the background of bright walls!
