Arcade a series of arches, where one overlaps another in their columns. The idea of the creation of passages with shops originated in France in 1798 with the appearance of the streets of the Passage du Caire in honor of the French military campaign.

People liked the idea, because they were sheltered from the weather, dirt and noise, and could leisurely stroll, like at the Mall. In the gallery there are two separate entrances. One from the Duomo square, the second – under the square of La Scala. The gallery connects two of the most outstanding sights of Milan – the Duomo and La Scala.
