Note the name - Demidov)))
For the record: Pavel Pavlovich Demidov, Prince of San Donato (1839-1885) continued the tradition of patronage of his family, one of his good deeds immortalized on the facade of the cathedral of Florence. Looking at the Santa Maria del Fiore, it is hard to imagine that not so long ago it was the facade of the ragged, rough stone: in the Middle Ages townspeople did not have enough funds for the completion of the cathedral. In the middle of the XIX century, the city fathers of wealthy Florentines called for donations to a new marble facade. Most of all Demidov allocated for that and then see your family coat of arms on the place of honor - the right of the main entrance. Prince's coat of arms with the Italian title of Demidov received from the hands of local rulers - Grand Duke of Tuscany. The united coat of arms of the Ural hack and heraldic lily of Florence.
Photo 13:
Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (at night)
Photo 14:
Baptistery, dedicated to John the Baptist. Included in the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore
Photo 15:
Detail of the east gate of the Baptistery.
The gates are divided into 10 panels with gilded bas-reliefs, and represent biblical stories.
Photo 16:
Once again, the Basilica of Santa Croce
Photo 17:
Palazzo Vecchio (center with a turret). Now it serves as the town hall.
Before entering the square are the statues, including the famous David (Michelangelo), a copy of which we have in the Pushkin Museum. By the way in the Pushkin looks much more impressive (there is an open space, it seems that not so huge). In Italy, although the street is also a copy, but the original - in the gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts.

Photo 19:
a view of the city (photographed with some of the bridge, now I do not remember from what)))
Photo 20:
View from above (from the bell tower of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore)
P.S. the dome and the bell tower you can climb on foot ... ... requires some time and effort, but it's worth it))) on top of a beautiful view
