Due to historical, political, and geographic reasons developed only 23.7% of Hong Kong, of which the earth is at just 6.8% is used for housing. It is not surprising that Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated cities on the planet with more than 6,400 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Most of the 7 million residents live in apartments of high-rise buildings towering over the skyline of Hong Kong. In total there are 6588 high-rise buildings all over Hong Kong. For comparison, in new York such buildings is "only" 5818, making Hong Kong a true city skyline.
Despite the fact that such an urban landscape is a lot like, the living conditions of most people here is far from perfect. Many of them live like dogs in cages. To convey a claustrophobic residential structure the most densely populated districts of Hong Kong, German photographer Michael wolf has done a beautiful series of photos, calling it "Architecture of Density".
