The monument to Poltava Galushka

The Executive Committee of Poltava city Council decided to move the monument to Poltava Galushka from Svyatoshinskogo Cathedral is 200 metres further to the Ivanova Gora restaurant.


This decision is connected with repeated public protests: the insights of the members of the regional organization of National Union of artists, the town planning Board and appeal of the representatives of the Public Council and the community of the Cathedral, near the temple such monuments are Bogomoltsa.


The initiator of construction of this monument was made by the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Anatoliy Kukoba. According to him, the monument was built exclusively for the sponsor, not the budget, and cost about 100 thousand hryvnia. In November 2005, the Executive Committee of Poltava city Council declared o the intention to build a monument to Poltava Galushka. Dumpling is a traditional Ukrainian dish, flour, as well as one of the symbols of Poltava and the hallmark of the city.


The authors of the massive monument, built of stone, are the people's artist of Ukraine Anatoliy Chornoschokov and sculptor Nicholas Tsys. The monument, symbolizing the prosperity and welfare of the family, is a large, deep bowl of ready to eat 12 dumplings and spoon on a special pedestal. The monument was erected for the sponsorship in the amount of 100 thousand hryvnias.
