Effective treatment for depression—acupuncture
Treatment of depression with acupuncture. In any case, a useful method in one third of cases, to avoid the use of antidepressants. To confirm the effectiveness of acupuncture for depression, conducted a study at the University of York, UK. The effectiveness of this treatment has been clinically proven. The study involved 755 patients suffering from depression. Studied randomly divided into three groups: 302 of them received 12 sessions of acupuncture, 302 therapy, and counseling psychologists, and the remaining 151 only standard medical treatments. At the beginning of the study, the patients received a rating of level of depression— an average of 16 on a scale from 0 to 27, which represents the average severity form of the disease.
At the end of the study, the indicators of those who were appointed to conduct sessions of acupuncture, fell to 9 points. Good results also in those who had therapy (11), while the less effective the remedy was the use of only drug therapy. The results obtained by the application of acupuncture has continued to demonstrate its effect for a period of 12 weeks.
