Eco interior of the week: Beethoven Hall in New York

On the upper floors of the building in the old area of the East Village (New York, USA) used to be a concert hall. Photographer Gregory Colbert (the current owner of the two-story apartment) put a lot of effort into turning it into luxury housing. But no tricks of designers failed to turn initially huge volumes into a normal living room. American “gigantomania” is visible in each of the ten rooms – a lobby that remains like an airplane hangar, a giant studio with a kitchen, a bedroom in which you can place a soldier’s parade ground. The eclecticism inherent in American design can be seen in everything, especially in one of the bedrooms, where the antique style is mixed with “African” and “Scandinavian”.

The use of expensive materials, furniture, author’s jewelry has repeatedly raised the price of Beethoven Hall (from $ 6 million in 2004 to $ 25 million today), but did not make the apartment a work of design art.
