The truth about laboratory animals

Human rights groups and celebrities in the UK require a ban of testing drugs and cosmetics on animals, but they have so far only full disclosure of this activity.

Earlier in the country the facts of scientific experiments on animals took place under a signature stamp "Confidentially", and the people saw only the aggregate data. Now scientific departments will have to provide all information on activities and experiments, including to tell, was it possible more humane alternatives, writes The Independent.

Scientists will be forced to report caused the animals pain and apply ways of reducing their suffering. The authorities hope that the new regulation will decrease the number of cases of vivisection and the number of animals suffering from it.

The Minister of internal Affairs of great Britain, Norman Baker said that the declassification of information will make science closer to the people and make the use of animals over time is unacceptable.

Changes in legislation were made possible thanks to a petition created by "green" activists of the British society for the abolition of vivisection. They have achieved even that will be declassified names of scientists who use cruel methods.
